Returning to Fosen shipyard
It always gives a very good feeling to come back to old customers and to discuss about new
projects. Aluminox has cooperated in the past with Fosen yard in very interesting projects for various shipowners such as Anek and Stena Lines.
On January 2016, we were invited by Fosen yard to discuss about the conversion of the shipowner Hurtigruten for their vessel, Spitsbergen.
The main areas of the conversion were:
Upgrading of ice class to DNV-GL 1C
New complete accomodation with standard based on Hurtigrutens new Artic Interior Style
Conversion from RoPax to Explorer Passenger ship.
The vessel would also be converted to comply with the USPH standards as it is scheduled to call Canadian ports.
Aluminox has won the project and has successfully delivered the equipment on board the vessel.
All of our team was very excited to return to Fosen and work again with their team. We were also very excited to meet and work with the hotel team of Hurtigruten. They are really professionals, they know what they want and we personally found their concept around the coastal voyages and the local food fantastic.
As you can see from the photos, during that first trip, we were also very enthusiastic about the weather. This is not something we experience everyday in Greece.
